I, also, bought this pot (4.8 qt) based on the photo. I was not happy to find that what i had ordered wasn't a pressure cooker, however, I was happy to see that the pot was going to get use in my kitchen. I probably never would have ordered this pot intentionally but i kept it anyway. I really like it.it has a thermometer on the lid (lid not oven or dishwasher safe) this pot is nice for sauces and soups... but don't be tricked it's not a pressure cooker.

Delightful little pot, with inside diameter of 7" & is smaller than given in the description which must allow for the handles. The care and feeding instructions say it is oven safe up to 350' which is the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5. the glass lid must be the reason for the limited temp bcs cast iron and most silicone can take more heat. I roast veggies at 400' in my larger iron pots. The smaller size and cast iron were the features I was seeking, so all in all, I'm content with this cutie.

This cost quite a lot and the postage was prohibitive. But unfortunately I continued to order it anyway. When I received this, it looks incredibly small for 4 quart so I measured, and found that it was just over half the size as specified. I am so disappointed and it is too expensive to return to the US - not a good investment for me.

Built like a tank

I own a lot of high quality cookware, including Le Creuset cast iron, which I use mostly for simmering and stewing, and Mauviel copper, which I use for tasks that need a more responsive pan. I forget exactly why I bought this particular Fissler stainless steel casserole, but it has been an excellent buy. It is very heavy, which makes it good for simmering stews, soups or pasta sauces. It feels extremely well made. Although it does not have the smooth internal enamel surface of a Le Creuset, food does not burn or stick to the pan and cleaning up after use is easy. For me the most important point is that because of the stainless steel surface I can use a Braun hand blender directly inside the pan to liquidise soups with worrying about the finish - I would be very reluctant to do that with any of my Le Creuset pieces. Externally the finish has developed a stained patina that I could no doubt remove if I wanted but I prefer it as it is; it looks pleasantly well used. The handles get warm but they do (as promised) stay cool enough to touch in nearly all circumstances. After two years of use I am very happy with this pan and I have recently ordered two other Fissler pieces to go with it. I have looked at other stainless steel pieces in stores but I haven't seen any that I felt compared favourably to the Fissler in terms of durability. The sole disadvantage is that these are not cheap. I suppose one could also argue that the Le Creuset look more attractive, but for sheer toughness Fissler has it.

Due to this uniqueness, there may be slight variations from piece to piece. Le Creuset Stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and broiler. The maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C. The enameled surface is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. The enamel is completely hygienic and will not absorb odors or flavors. Le Creuset Stoneware is extremely strong and durable, and resists staining, chipping and cracking. The handles, knobs and rims have been designed for a secure, easy-to-hold grip. Cleaning and Care DO NOT use any Stoneware piece on the stovetop or any other direct heat source. OVEN: Maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C. Use oven mitts for lifting at all times. BROILER: When using under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2-1/2 inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source. MICROWAVE: Handles may become hot during prolonged microwave use, especially if the handles are enclosed with plastic wrap. Cover just the open top of the dish, leaving the handles exposed. FREEZER-TO-OVEN USE: Do not place a frozen dish of food in a preheated oven. Place the frozen dish in a cold oven and set the temperature, allowing the dish and oven to heat together. Before serving always check that the center of the food is completely and uniformly hot. CLEANING: Before the first use, wash the dish in hot, soapy water, and rinse and dry thoroughly. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes before washing and drying, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete. Never leave a dish fully immersed in water. For removal of stubborn residues allow the dish to cool, fill with warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for 10 to 20 minutes. This is a nice covered casserole dish but a lot smaller than I expected. It is a quality product as is all Le Creuset products.
